چکیده

This paper presents the performance evaluation of Quick UDP Internet Connections (QUIC), SCTP, TCP and TCP-Reno within Cloud and Cloudlet services. We first present the transport protocols and a comparison between Cloud and Cloudlet. Secondly, we assess the performance of QUIC compared to SPDY and TCP in terms of transport time decrease. Then, we present a simulation setting for energy aware using Green-Cloud simulator. The simulator is planned to arrest the details of the consumed energy by datacenter mechanisms such us switches, and servers. The simulation results acquired for TCP, SCTP and Renodis play the value of each protocol in employing power management schema, such as voltage scaling and dynamic shutdown with different architectures. After that, we set the demonstration results of throughput and latency of TCP and Quic within cloud and cloudlet services using CloudSim simulator and browser services.

Taking a Long Look at QUIC

Google’s QUIC protocol, which implements TCP-like properties at the application layer atop a UDP transport, is now used by the vast majority of Chrome clients accessing Google properties but has no formal state machine specification, limited analysis, and ad-hoc evaluations based on snapshots of the protocol implementation in a small number of environments. Further frustrating attempts to evalu...

Performance Evaluation of SCTP as a Transport Layer Protocol Master’s Thesis in Computer Network Engineering

TCP and UDP are the most popular transport protocols used for end-end data transmission. The rapid growth of internet leads to development of many innovative applications in the current environment. Depending on the functionality of these applications, requirements of transport protocols are changing. TCP is known for its problems with Head Of Line blocking (HOL) and SYN attacks which gives red...

Towards Enhancing Resource Scarce Cloudlet Performance in Mobile Cloud Computing

In recent years, mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets empowered with tremendous technological advancements. Augmenting the computing capability to the distant cloud help us to envision a new computing era named as mobile cloud computing (MCC). However, distant cloud has several limitations such as communication delay and bandwidth which brings the idea of proximate cloud of cloudlet. Cl...

SCTP Performance in Data Center Environments

Stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) is gaining more & more attention as a potential replacement for the aging TCP owing to several powerful features it provides. However, like TCP, much of SCTP work relates to WAN. In this paper, we examine SCTP from the data center perspective. In particular, we evaluate the most mature open source implementation of SCTP for Linux known as LK-SCTP. We ...

SCTP performance evaluation over heterogeneous networks

Since its definition in 2000, the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) has attracted increasing interest. Several research works, often validated through analytical and simulative analysis, have attempted to evaluate the benefits of substituting TCP with SCTP, both for signaling and data transfer. In this work, we present a traffic generation and performance analysis tool to test SCTP on...
